Challenge: Show how EO data makes a difference

ESA’s Global Development Assistance (GDA) programme is launching the Impact Stories from Space Challenge to showcase how Earth Observation (EO) is turning strategy into action for sustainable development.

What is the Challenge?

The ESA Global Development Assistance (GDA) Impact Stories from Space Challenge is an open call for EO experts, innovators, and storytellers to showcase how European Earth Observation technology is making an impact in developing countries.

We are looking for powerful “impact stories” that reveal how EO data, products and services are driving positive change, from improving agriculture and managing natural resources, to supporting disaster response and sustainable development.

This is your chance to shine a light on how space-based insights are transforming lives on the ground and to inspire others to leverage the use of Earth Observation for global development.

Share your story

We invite you to submit stories where EO has been used to advance development goals with clear, tangible outcomes.

Why participate?

Selected stories will receive the GDA Impact Award and will be promoted through ESA’s platforms, bringing visibility to your work across the global EO and development community.

The winning stories will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Remarkable and measurable EO role and impact
  • Active or recently completed work
  • A unique or untold story
  • Scalability
  • Partnership and inclusivity
  • Communication and outreach
