The kick-off meeting of the GDA AID activity on Transport & Infrastructure was held on 10th January 2024.
The GDA team were in attendance with the implementing consortium led by IABG (Germany). Other consortium partners include: CLS (France), DLR (Germany), e-geos (Italy), IGN FI (France), LiveEO (Germany), SPACEKNOW (Czechia), TRE ALTAMIRA (Spain), Caribou Space (UK).
This dedicated action under the GDA AID activity line focuses on addressing the main challenges identified together with GDA Institutional Partners in achieving efficient transport and infrastructure through the use and impact of satellite EO-based information. With a focus on the following use cases:
- Monitoring infrastructure construction
- Assessing transportation infrastructure quality
- Developing inventories of existing transportation infrastructure
- Assessing infrastructure vulnerability to climate risk
- Assessing mobility patterns
- Mapping road safety hazards
- Characterising transport infrastructure demand
- Assessing environmental impact of planned infrastructure
