A new Invitation to Tender (ITT) has been issued and seeks to implement upcoming Earth Observation (EO) information advancements, specifically addressing geo-information needs within the thematic area of Forest Management under the ESA Global Development Assistance (GDA) programme. This tender will incorporate EO information developments that align with the operational requirements of International Financial Institutions (IFIs) for geo-information in the Forest Management thematic area.
Following an initial phase of stakeholder engagement, a flexible development strategy will be employed, involving three consecutive development cycles, each spanning six months. This approach is designed to accommodate the nature of evolving requirements for the creation and testing of new geo-information. Activity areas have been identified in cooperation with the IFIs where use cases will be developed, e.g. enhancing efficiency of forest inventories, landscape spatial planning and sustainable management, REDD+ workflows and early warning systems. Notably, this activity builds on lessons learned from the earlier EO4SD-forest management activity and contributes to GDA Agile EO Information Development (AID), as one of the main activity lines of the Global Development Assistance Element of the European Earth Watch Programme.
