The World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), two main partners of the Global Development Assistance (GDA) programme, took part in the 28th session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-28) in Hanoi, Vietnam.
ADB Vietnam Country Director Andrew Jeffries presented GDA’s contribution to address challenges in the Asia Pacific, and the pathway towards a resilient and sustainable region. Paolo Manunta, ADB Senior Infrastructure Specialist in Earth Observation, explained in details which ADB projects are benefiting from GDA support and how this programme generates opportunities in ADB’s Developing Member Countries.
On the World Bank side, Edward Anderson, Senior Technology and Resilience Specialist at the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and Alex Chunet, ESA Representative at the WB introduced in a video the new Digital Earth Partnership (DEP). By presenting the GDA-DEP coordinated approach, the World Bank team was able to connect with stakeholders of the Asian space ecosystem and discuss the modalities of a potential collaboration in the implementation of the activities of the Digital Earth Partnership further down the line.
