EARSC EOcafe: Accessing development finance for the EO downstream sector

Christoph Aubrecht, ESA GDA Programme Coordinator, along with Alex Chunet, ESA representative at the World Bank and Paolo Manunta, ESA representative at the Asian Development Bank, will participate in the next EOcafe co-organised by the ESA #GDA team with EARSC on Thursday 13 October 2022 at 16:00 CEST.

This EOcafe will focus on introducing the EO sector to development finance principles and instruments, and on giving insights of the work of International Financial Institutions (IFIs). IFIs represent a potential market for EO service companies, but are complex organisations whose needs and requirements can be difficult to comprehend for external stakeholders. The session will therefore highlight selected success stories in leveraging development financing – as introduced by ‘champion’ users of the European EO service industry – and pursuing new commercial opportunities, notably referencing the GDA programme and its precursor, the Earth Observation for Sustainable Development initiative (EO4SD).
