International Financial Institutions (IFIs) are increasingly realising the potential use of Earth Observation (EO) for Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E). However, it is an area that is still not fully understood. To address this gap, Caribou Space published a report on behalf of GDA called Using Earth Observation for Monitoring & Evaluation, looking at the value of EO for M&E by IFIs.
A webinar offering valuable insights and discussion on this topic was held on 19th October 2023, demonstrating the significant role M&E plays in development interventions, whilst highlighting the value that EO data brings to M&E.
Hosts Carlotta Maucher, (Research Associate, Caribou Space) and Christoph Aubrecht (Program Coordinator, Global Development Assistance, ESA) were joined by an expert panel, Alex Chunet (ESA representative at the World Bank) Bernhard Metz (Senior Operations Officer & Program Manager of the GEMS initiative, World Bank), Robert Marty (Research Analyst, Development Impact Evaluation (DIME), World Bank).
An engaged audience of over 67 benefited from informative presentations and a detailed Q&A session. For those who missed the webinar, a recording of the event can be found here along with presentations from the day
This webinar was hosted by Imperative Space and Caribou Space as part of the GDA Monitoring & Evaluation activity.
