DESCRIPTION:IFAD is organising on 7 September 2022 a new “Food4Thought Series” online event on the theme Leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E).\n\nThe event will discuss the best approaches to systematically integrate GIS in M&E of development interventions in order to establish a data foundation for more transparent monitoring and impact assessment.\n\nClement Albergel\, Climate Applications Scientist at the European Space Agency and Technical Officer of the GDA AID Climate Resilience thematic area\, will share his experience from the Global Development Assistance initiative together with Athur Mabiso\, Senior Economist at IFAD and Oliver Mundy\, Environmental Analyst at IFAD.

The event therefore focuses on showcasing the most recent initiatives as well as best practices in mitigating and adapting to climate change and supporting sustainability on Earth.\n\nSimonetta Cheli\, Director of Earth Observation Programmes at ESA\, will give a keynote presentation on ESA EO data and international cooperation in support of worldwide climate challenges on the 13th afternoon. Moreover\, Christoph Aubrecht\, GDA Programme coordinator will be a panelist in the morning of the 15th to discuss future activities of Space for climate action.
